It's time to take stand.

******UPDATE******

I have just sent and email to all the councilors and ask you to do the same.  I am now waiting to see if I hear back at all.

We must take our city back and say enough is enough.  We need to stand up to the city council and Mayor and it needs to start now and continue, it can't stop at just one council meeting.

Here is my suggestion we need to show up at the city council meeting in March 24th. My thought we should rally either by the Minnesota power building and take to the streets for an hour at 5pm to 6pm, then walk to the city council meeting and speak against the fee. The other thing is rally at city hall at 6pm, then just go inside for the meeting.

We need to show up in numbers if you have thoughts or want to do this please comment here or email me at  duluthpolitics2@yahoo.com.

This can't stop with one council meeting, the only way the councilors and Mayor take note is if we keep the pressure up on them.  We must show up in numbers at ever council meeting regardless of what is going on at the meeting.

To tell the councilors we don't want the fee you can email:

Call it what you want.

So as many of you who know me may well expect, I don't agree with council president Linda Krug on the fee to charge Duluth citizens for road repair.

You can call it a fee and say you are not raising tax's but a fee is a tax and a tax is a fee you must pay.

Linda Krug wants to charge a fee to improve Duluth roads, at least she seems to support this action.  The fee would be $5 to $8 dollars a month.  This would be 96 dollars a month or more if you are a small or large business owner, also if you own rental property.

We already pay taxes, roads should be included in that right?  If not then what do we pay taxes for?  To add a fee on top of this is wrong.

There are ways to pay for roads with out stretching the tax payers hard earned money.  Fact is you should use the taxes for there intent not some other project you want to do that is not essential or we can't afford to do right now.

Our tax money should be used on police, fire, roads,  and other infrastructure items such as sewer and bridges.  What our taxes should not go for, buying building to restore, pay employees, and other things like that.

It is frustrating that our mayor and city council look at adding fee's instead of looking what we have to work this out all the time.  We can't afford to pay more when there is less and less property on the tax roll. We have so many non-profits in our city that are not paying a dime towards roads they use and require to have to be open.

Perhaps you could charge the non-profits a small fee a year, 100 to 200 dollars and use this for roads.  This would include hospitals, groups, agency's, housing, and such.

We use to get money for the casino but right now are in a legal battle over that.  But we did not use most of the money for roads any way.  Maybe it is a good thing we stopped receiving it, if we can't use it for it's intent them maybe we should not get it.  They would rob that to pay or use on projects or saliers for other city employees, among other things as well.
