Jennifer Julsrud

1st district Jennifer Julsrud told us against the street fee to just calm down on Monday night at the council meeting.

Here is what she said for those about the street fee I ask that you calm down, I am excited to bring to the council.  Me and my fellow councilors will make the right decision.

What really?  What you just said is if you disagree with me on the fee go a way and don't say anything. You should just shut up, I and the council will take care of this.  Excuse me but you where elected and are to represent the people that voted for you and listen to them now you say shut up and go away.  I will not shut up, I will not go away.  I will not pay the fee.

Interesting...???

So I send an email to my councilor a week asking to speak with her about the fee on roads issue.  Yet I have gotten no reply.  I have an idea I want to pass on that would help this issue.

Tax Party.

April 15th has come and gone.  I hope you all got your taxes in on time.

Now to the meat of this post LOL.  Of course rally's where held around the country.  One well two where held here in Duluth.  On by the Tea Party and a second one by the veterans for peace among other groups.

I was not able to get a reporter to the veterans for peace one, I brought some one for that purpose however he wanted to stay to at the tea party rally so that is what happened.

The tea party and the other both had about 50 people at each rally and where with in 200 feet of each other. The tea party rally called for less government, less laws on guns, and taking back our country from  a administration that is running our country in to the ground.

Duluth and Iraq connected?

Well much like our wacky winter this year the city council entered into a wacky situation at least I think so.

Tonight on the the Duluth City Council agenda was weird resolution, it irritated one military veteran that was at the council meeting. Unfortunately he was not able to convey that to the council, however it would not have mattered.

So what is the resolution that passed 9-0? Side note shame on you Jay Fosle for supporting this.

resolution 14-147R Support for a sister cities relationship with Rania, Iraq.  Yes that is right we not want to be friends, have a relationship with a country that has not respect for our country.  A country that trains it's people to kill Americana's any way they can.

The military man at the council meeting wanted to say how could you support a country that kills Americana's at any chance they get.  They train their Women and kids to kill us.

Are you all glad that we are now connected with Rania Iraq?

My idea for the street repairs.

Well I am not going to say to much right now about I do want to let you all know that I am working on my own solution to the street repair issue.  I will be presenting it to a city councilor hopefully soon. Whether or not it will go any where or not I don't know.  It will be up the councilor.  But I am infact taking taking part this to come to a positive solution for all of Duluth and I encourage you all to do the same.

I will post more soon on this.  I think it is a pretty good idea but we will see what happens.

April 15th events. Dueling events.

Our first two featured events that I would like to let people know about are tax day events.

The first is what is being called  a People First rally April 15th at Noon at the Duluth federal building and the event is put on by Veteran's for peace, and others like groups.

The next event is the Duluth Tea Party Tax Party Rally on April 15th also at noon this will be at the civic center if it rains it will be moved in doors to city hall.  Update you are asked to be there by 11:30 now.

Note:  I will have many more events up in the next day or so on the events page.  The reason for featured events is only to make you aware of interesting events I think you may like.  Also I may want to make you aware of them regardless of a political bent, because I feel they are important.

Again please remember send me your events they don't have to be political and you will see many that are not on the events page of the blog.  The main page of the blog will remain political for the most part but will feature some events.

Out walking around.

Listen I love our city, that said we are falling apart at the seams.  Our beautiful city is failing do to a Mayor and council that is more concerned about social issues, developing a dinky town, and tourism.  Then working on improving our city's roads, sidewalks, bridges, parks.

I was out walking around today, add on top of this driving around town and making observations, that our city is falling apart.  The roads are horrible, I mean heck you can't even get to the hospital safely.  The city sidewalks are craving in.  We have a ton on low paying jobs but little mid ti high paying jobs. We also are not looking at attracting these types of jobs, but we spend all our time on brew pubs and tourism jobs.

Fact is if we don't start paying attention to what should be our priorities, street, police, fire, low taxes and business friendly city nothing else will matter.  We will soon be seeing the signs again will the last on out please turn off the lights.

I don't want to see this but with out real change things will not improve.  Please take part in our city government.

The latest on the fee on the street repair.

Well there is not much new on the fee proposed for repairing city streets, however there are a couple of things that need to be caught up on here.

Of course this story started March 17th of this year when WDIO did a story with city councilor and committee member Linda Krug.  She said they are thinking of making a fee to go to improving city streets.

Well the story did not really take off till it was heard the 18th on the Brad Bennett show heard on WDSM radio. That got a lot of people talking about the issue and saying that a fee is a tax.  Something the citizens can ill effort.

Now almost two month later there still has been no single proposal brought forward by the committee however Krug still supports the fee. That however is not an official resolution on the council agenda, in fact there is still not an official resolution on the agenda.

That said however there has been committee members have been meeting with councilors to discuss the issue.  Also one councilor has an idea to transfer the street light fee to be the street fee not adding a new fee but redistributing the fee for roads.  How do you all feel about that idea?  It is a compromise that as least does not add another fee.  Well I understand many of us don't feel we should have a fee for any of these services.

Pot Holes.

So the City of Duluth has found away to be more aggressive this year in fixing pot holes, at least so says the Mayor.  This years program will be more intense because they have pulled money out of the general fun to fix pot holes.

One tv station made it sound like the city had a new plan, yet it is much of the same.  It is only making it more of the same old.  What that is is using hot mix tar to fill a pot hole.  This last maybe a week or two if we are lucky then the same pot hole needs to be filled yet again and again and again.  This goes on city wide all summer long.

You got to love how the city of Duluth loves to throw money away as long as it pays for union workers!!!!!!
